Position Title: Golf and Life Skills Coach

Accountable to: Program Director

Employment Status: Full Time

Role Definition:

Assist the Program Director in the development and implementation of programming for The First Tee of Northwest Arkansas (TFTNWA), a non-profit organization teaching character and life skills through the game of golf.

This position, working with the Programming Director, will

  • Complete training by TFTNWA to become a recognized The First Tee Coach.
  • Assist in the development of a realistic Life skills and Golf skills program that will lead participants to certification and enhance retention for each of The First Tee levels.  
  • Provide input in the development and implementation of lessons plans for consistent delivery of our program.
  • Serve as the Lead Instructor in the delivery of the program to the participants at one of TFTNWA facilities throughout the programming year.
  • Become familiar with the Volunteer Coaches Training and Orientation Program, and be able to provide leadership in all policies and procedures, volunteer feedback strategies, volunteer evaluation, and on-going live and virtual training.
  • Provide leadership and direction to assigned part-time assistant coaches and volunteer coaches.
  • Working with The First Tee staff, aid in the development of policies and procedures for programming practices, class cancellations, participant certification tracking, participant behavior intervention, and other areas involving participants and/or programming.
  • Within budgetary constraints, remain involved in continuing education both within The First Tee and golf instruction and programming techniques.
  • Maintain a positive working relationship with The First Tee home office.
  • Maintain a positive working relationship with all team members, insuring open lines of communication and sharing of ideas within each area of concern of the Organization.
  • Develop community liaisons and active outreach programs utilizing National School Program schools, all other schools, community youth and family organizations, churches, and local Parks and Recreation departments to expand our impact within the Benton and Washington County area.

The general terms and conditions for this position will be:

  • Annually develop attainable goals and objectives for each of this position’s areas of responsibility alongside the Executive Director and the Program Director
  • Dedicate the hours of effort, each week, which will insure the successful accomplishment of these goals
  • Accurately prepare time sheet, receipt and mileage reimbursement forms for bi-weekly submittal for Program Director approval
  • Prepare a weekly staff report for the Program Director and a weekly participant email
  • Prepare a quarterly self-evaluation for the Program Director, with emphasis on goals achievement status
  • Personally project The First Tee’s Nine Core Values in all areas of responsibility
  • Maintain fiscal responsibility when using the TFTNWA credit card and all requests for reimbursement

Education:

Bachelors degree preferred.  Experience in teaching golf preferred.  

Specific terms and conditions for this position will be:

Salary range   $30,000 to $35,000

Job Description:

To positively guide and teach young people to become great citizens and committed, active golfers by positively impacting their lives through The First Tee Golf and Life Skills experience using lesson plans and The First Tee Coach Building Blocks.

Responsibilities:

  • Assist The First Tee lead coaches in the set up and delivery of the Golf and Life Skills curriculum.  
  • Successfully complete the Assistant Coach online training.
